Valuable Lessons Through Play
The bowl of horse chestnuts have been sitting on the table for a couple of weeks now. Here Zyan is tipping the chestnuts from one bowl to another, over and over again. WHY? Zyan is learning many different things about the chestnuts and some fundamental mathematical theories too. While dumping and tipping the chestnuts he learns about their density as he hears them crash into the bowl. While lifting the bowl he learns about weight and the force he needs to extract in order to get them out of the bowl. He is not able to verbalize his learning yet, but as he grows he will build upon this knowledge. Who knows maybe one day he will be able to put this early learning into effect and figure out an intricate engineering problem. This is where it begins. Without play children would miss many valuable lessons.
