Gala Dinner & Auction
It has been years since our last in person gala. We used to host a bi-annual winter gala to fundraise for the Children’s Centre. The dinner would consist of a fancy meal, live music, drinks, and a silent auction often featuring items from local artists. I can’t recall when our last in person dinner was hosted, but before we could host our last one the pandemic occurred and our auction moved to an online format on facebook. Well we believe it is due time we returned to hosting this as an in person event!
Join us this November 8 for our Winter Gala, hosted at the Gowlland Harbour Resort, 823 Gowlland Harbour Rd, Quathiaski Cove. The gala this year will consist of:
A three course meal, featuring dishes from our very own Island Cookery Cookbook.
Live Music featuring the talents of the Jazz Duo of Kate Alexandra and Ken Burns.
A silent auction where guests may bid on donations from local artist, businesses, and services.
Where do I get a ticket?
Tickets will be available Tuesday October 15, at Inspirations. Head on to downtown Quathiaski Cove and purchase a ticket at Inspirations, 671 Plaza Rd #2a, Quathiaski Cove,. Business hours are:
Tuesday: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Wednesday: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Thursday: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Friday: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am to 3:0 pm
How much is a ticket?
Each ticket is $125 or four tickets for $450.
Why is it $125 or $450 for four?
The cost of the tickets cover the venue and food provided by the Gowlland Harbour Resort, the band, and then any leftover go towards the Quadra Children’s Centre to help reach our fundraising goals.
What is included in a ticket?
The ticket includes the cover charge at the door, a three course meal, live music, and access to bid on our silent auction items.
What if I don’t want to attend the entire event?
You can pick a time to come. In order to provide the best quality of food to our guests, we will be doing what is called a staggered meal time. What this means is certain tables will be served at different times. Three tables of four may be scheduled to receive food at 6:00 pm, while another table of three may be scheduled to receive their food at 7:00 pm. Each ticket will have their assigned table and meal time. So when you purchase a ticket at Inspirations, pick a ticket/time that works best for you. We do suggest though that you come at 6:00 pm, regardless of your meal time, and stay for the whole show. Enjoy the live music, have a drink, and enjoy the company.
What is there for dinner?
Gowlland harbour has selected the following meals from the Island Cooker 3 cookbook. All tickets by default will come with the following three course meal.
Starter: Coconut Steamed Mussels with Thai Green Curry
Main: Baked Cod with Miso Butter Bread Crumbs
Dessert: Chocolate Mocha Cream Cake
If however you would like the vegetarian option, then that will consist of the following.
Starter: Cream of Mushroom Soup
Main: Butternut Squash and Caramelized Onion Galette
Dessert: Chocolate Mocha Cream Cake.
Once you purchase your ticket, you may email fundraising.qicc@gmail.com to provide your ticket number and change your meal preference if you wish. All meal choice requests must be submitted before November 1. We will attempt to accommodate any vegetarian requests submitted after November 1, but it will not be guaranteed.
We hope to see you all there. This will be a night to remember and hopefully the start of a returning time honoured tradition at the Quadra Children’s Centre.
